It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Valentino Podorieszach at the age of 91, on May 10, 2010.
Valentino will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Agostina, his daughter Franca (Carlo) Monteleone; grandchildren Frances (Jeff) Meville, Teena (Brandon) Mudry, Christopher, Terry and Mike Monteleone; great grandchildren Elyse Valentina Meville and Treyton Mudry. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Andrea and Maria, his sister Maria Franz and brothers Agostino, Onelio and Guiseppe.
Valentino was born February 15, 1919 (sharing the same birth date as great granddaughter Elyse Valentina) in Stermizza, Savogna, Udine, Italy.
He immigrated to Canada in 1952, where he began working with CNR until his retirement in 1979.
Valentino appreciated the outdoors, with fishing, hunting and gardening and had a unique gift and passion for nurturing birds.
He was extremely dedicated to his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He spent many happy hours watching them participate in various activities and sporting events, with much encouragement.
More recently he took great pleasure in seeing Elyse Valentina and Treyton on their visits. They greatly lifted his spirit.
The family would like to thank Dr. Reid and the nursing staff at Royal Inland Hospital.
Nonno, you are now among the angels in God’s garden and with the Blessed Virgin Mary, but we will always hold you near.
“Keep Smiling”
Prayers will be recited on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Should friends desire, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2T1 in memory of Mr. Podorieszach would be appreciated.
Dear Agostina, Franca and family,
My sincerest condolences to all of you. My prayers are with you at this time. I honestly remember only good things about your dad. Living across the street from your family was one of those things that childhood and growing up should be, times with love and friendship. He will be missed. God bless you all and allow all the good times with Valentino to help you through.
Love Ivana (Porco), Dan and Michael Baudin
