Timothy Joseph Desmond

desmond3On December 23, 2009, Timothy Joseph Desmond passed away peacefully at the age of 73 years.  He was the 2nd eldest of seven children born in County Cork, Ireland.  His family lived in Middleton, County Cork, Ireland until they came to Kamloops, B.C. in July 1947 when he was eleven years old.  He attended school until grade 7.

In 1956, he started as a brakeman for the CNR.  He became a conductor and retired in 1989 after 33 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, curling and picture taking.

Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Annie and his children:

daughter Carla (Carey Wonfor) of Aldergrove, son Kane (Kathy) of Kamloops, daughter Trina of Kamloops, daughter Arlana (Ken) Cochran of Kamloops and his grandchildren Alexa, Keysha and Chaz.  Also left to cherish his memory are  his brother Pat (Alice) Desmond and his sisters Peggy Mikulasik, Joan (Mirko) Ilich and Josephine Sanesh.

He was predeceased by his son Kerry, his sisters Kitty Collins and Julia.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Royal Inland Hospital adn Pondersoa Lodge.

Prayers will be recited on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola Street.  The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron and the Monsignor Jerry Desmond will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
