Rita Schweder

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mrs. Rita Schweder of Kamloops on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the age of 87 years.  She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melody (Alan) Isenor, Jill Schweder and Darlene Schweder all of Kamloops, her four grandchildren Devon and Angelee Isenor, Holly and Kira Cheeseborough. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters,  Marigold Hermatz, Martha McCloskey, Helen Chrysler (Albert), Elsie May (Norman), John Loehndorf (Norma), Gerald Loehndorf (Lynn) and sister in laws Lorraine Loehndorf, Lorraine Schweder and Rosemary Burns.

Rita was predeceased by her husband James in 1994 and her brother Raymond Loehndorf.  Rita was born November 21, 1922 in Allan, Saskatchewan to John and Mary Loehndorf the oldest of eight children.  Rita joined the Air Force (RCAF) in 1941 and served for four years.  She met James Schweder in Biggar, Saskatchewan.  After the war on July 16, 1946 they married and moved to B.C., where James and Rita opened a Corner Store.  In 1960 they started their family and in 1964 came to Kamloops, eventually building a home in Barnhartvale.

Rita loved gardening and doing crafts, spending summer vacations at the Shuswap Lake with her family.  She was a loving mother who was devoted to her family and to raising her children.

Prayers will be recited on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  The Reverend Father Vincent Asomugha will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
