On Saturday, April 10, 2010, Mr. Nicodemo (Nic) Vinci of Kamloops passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 83 years.
Nic is survived by his three daughters: Maria Romeo (Pasquale Marino), Franca (Saverio) Simpatico, Julie (Tony) Sia; his son Domenic (Karen); eleven grandchildren: Giuliana (Adrian) Harvey, Carmelina (Richard) Woods, Daniel (Sabrina), Monica, Carlo Sia, Giuseppe, Roberto and Lorenzo Simpatico, Kassia, Dylan and Raiya Vinci; three great grandchildren: Lukas, Peyton Woods and Sera Harvey.
Nic was predeceased by his loving wife Maria Rosa in 2007 and by his sister Maria.
Nic was born in Mammola, Reggio Calabria, Italy in 1926. He immigrated to Canada with his wife and two eldest children in 1955. Nic found work on the railway and for 33 years was a hard working and trusted employee of CN Rail. He was an avid fisherman and devoted many hours to his garden.
His beloved family will miss Nic dearly. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Overlander Extended Care Hospital and Ponderosa Lodge for their loving care over the years.
Prayers will be recited on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the church on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
