Nella Kamper

kamper21It is with profound heartache that we let go of Mom’s loving arms into the arms of Jesus and her soul mate, Erwin in the early morning hours on January 12, 2010.

She leaves behind her loving and only child Annelisa (Gary) and grandsons Christon (Katrina) and Justin Beharrell; also her only brother Pasquale Tulliami (Mila) and family and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was born October 4, 1921 in the beautiful hillside province of Arrizzo (Sobbiano), Tuscany, Italy.  She lived her dreams by leaving her small town and travelling over to Rome, Sicily to work and then becoming a nanny for an American family managing the Kodak Camera Company in Switzerland.  She loved children, and they loved her contagious laughter, sense of humour and playfulness that made her always fun to be around.  During her stay in Switzerland she had a chance encounter with Dad who was peddling around on his bike, on vacation from Austria.

Once married, her love of travel and dad’s sense of adventure led them across the Atlantic over to Canada which became their beloved home.  Mom worked numerous jobs during her life in Canada, did a lot of volunteering for such societies as the Kamloops Immigration Services and always enjoyed being around her family.

Upon retirement mom enjoyed road trips with dad to various towns throughout B.C.  During her travels she often commented to dad that he wasn’t going fast enough.  Mom made lasting impressions to those who came in contact with her.  They loved her spirit, sense of fun, laughter, good nature and compassion.

Many heartfelt thank-yous to all the nurses who took care of mom, you are angels with broad wings, also to her friend and loving compassionate Doctor, Dr. Hollman who she loved dearly, there are no words to express the care that she received throughout the years and during the last 10 days of her life.  Dr. Hollman may the Lord Bless you dearly.  Also thank you to Father Derrick for your loving prayers and encouragement; you were always there for us.

In lieu of flowers, please give to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S., Kamloops, BC  V2E 2S9 where mom and myself found peace, solace, compassion and love from the Angels’ that work there.

The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January, 16, 2010 at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Cathedral.  Interment will follow in the family plot, Hillside Cemetery.
