Kenneth Gordon Haughton

k-haughtonOn January 18, 2010 Kenneth Gordon Haughton passed away peacefully in Royal Inland Hospital at the age of 60 years with his wife and daughter by his side.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Janis, son Keith (Ping) (Ben and Halo) and daughter Christine (Nolan and Emerson), as well as brothers Bob, Jim, Doug and their families, numerous relatives and wonderful friends who were so much a part of his life.  Ken was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Lillian Haughton.

Ken was born in Knutsford and raised in Kamloops, graduated from Kamloops Senior Secondary and Dawson Creek College then worked for a short time at Noca Dairy out of Vernon, BC.  However, ranching was always his first love so he returned  to the family Ranch working with his father and brothers and enjoying his beloved cows.  Ken started his family in 1975 when he married his wife Janis.  He was a wonderful husband and father passing on his passion for showing cattle to his children through their ten years of 4-H.  Ken was an excellent judge of cattle; skills first learned in 4-H, showing cattle at Barriere and PWF and later passing on those skills as leader of Kamloops South 4-H Beef Club and judging at numerous cattle shows around the province.

His family would like to express sincere thanks to all the family and friends for their love and support, as well as all the doctors, nurses and staff of RIH for their wonderful care and compassion.

Should friends desire, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation, #109-828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC  V5Z 1E2 or the RIH Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2T1 in his memory would be appreciated.

A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service with reception to follow, will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Community Church, 1205 Rogers Way with Pastor Don Maione officiating.
