Jeremy (Jerry W.) Tow
Oct, 26, 1963 – Sept. 14, 2010
His valiantly fought 13-month struggle with brain cancer is over, he is at peace. He is gone too soon and we will miss him so much. Jeremy leaves behind so many who love him: his wife, Anita Wittenberg Tow & beloved children, Emma and Sebastian; parents, Jerry and Leah Tow; brothers Kevin & Travis & their families; mother-in-law Doris Wittenberg; brother-in-law Ron (Susan); as well as many devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jeremy was a talented & esteemed actor, director & Artistic Director. Born in Pennsylvania, he enjoyed a successful theatre career in the US & Canada. He was Artistic Director of Chemainus Theatre Festival for 11 years, & of Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops for one, most recently directing a beautiful production of The Miracle Worker at WCTC this past spring while undergoing treatment.
His work garnered awards & praise & he was passionate in his pursuit of excellence; but foremost, he was a loving & generous husband & father. His children were the light of his life. He placed great value on his relationships with his tightly-knit extended family. He was a loyal friend, a sensitive, inspiring & respected leader, a remarkable musician, & most of all, a man of deep faith. He accepted his diagnosis without bitterness, using it as an opportunity to strengthen & rely upon his faith in Jesus Christ. He suffered without complaint & wanted for others to know the joy he had in God.
Cremation & private family interment. Mermorial Service 2:00 pm, Monday Sept. 20th, Tenth Avenue Alliance Church, Vancouver BC.
The family thanks the many wonderful friends & medical professionals (especially Dr. Mavis Hollman) who supported us on this journey. God bless you.
Memorial gifts for his children’s education fund may be directed to Anita Wittenberg Tow. Home for Children, his friend Rev. Jyothi Reddi’s orphanage in India, was close to Jeremy’s heart: per his wishes, a portion of funds may be designated in the memo line on cheques.
“As for me, I will see your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness.” (Psalm 17:5)
Our love and prayers are with the family…..we knew them “way back when”. Prayed for him daily but, God knew best and must have needed another angel. May the good Lord above wrap his arms around you and may you feel his love as you go through this time of sadness. One day we’ll see him again.
God Bless All Of You!
Your family has been in our prayers for the last several months. I knew Jerry Wayne as a young child. I knew his parents when they were at the Everett Church of God in Everett, Pa. The entire family left such an impression on my heart. We know that Jerry Wayne is in the arms of Jesus, and may you find peace in that, even though your loss is so great.May God be with you as you go thru this journey. God bless you.
Dear Anita,
Joy, Rena and David send their condolences to you. May you and the children receive ongoing strength and inspiration from Jeremy’s life.
Sincerely,
David, Rena and Joy
