Gino Bison was born December 18, 1936 in the town of Zero Branco near the city of Treviso in north-eastern Italy and passed away peacefully at Kamloops Hospice on July 24, 2009.
Gino is predeceased by his mother Noemi (1943), brother Bruno (1961), father Alessandro (1965), sister Eleonora Casagrande (2002), niece Bianca Toniolo (2006) and nephew-in-law Tomaso Pesce (2008).
He is survived by his wife Edda, sons David and Robert (Dina), grandchildren Emily and Nicole. In Italy he is survived by his sister Brunilde Pesce, brother Mario (Paola) Bison, brother-in-law Enzo (Roberta) Pesce, nephews Dario (Iris) Pesce, Ennio (Luisa) Casagrande, nephew-in-law Sandro Toniolo and great nephews Gino (Rafaela), Alessandra (Stefano), Marco, Monica (Stefano), Samanta (Davide).
Gino emigrated to Canada in 1957 where he worked as a Planerman in the sawmill industry in Prince George, Clearwater and Vavenby. In 1962 Gino returned to Italy for a brief time and was engaged with Edda Pesce. Edda emigrated to Canada in 1964, lived briefly in Vavenby and settled in Kamloops. Together, they started a family and Gino became a father to two sons, David and Robert (Dina) and eventually, a grandfather to Emily and Nicole. Gino has been a proud member of the Colombo Lodge since 1965 and a member of the Kamloops Italian Society. Dad enjoyed socializing and the company of friends. He enjoyed music, making wine and salami and frequently visiting his friends and family members in Italy. He enjoyed entertaining with his guitar, singing and sense of humour.
The family wishes to thank the Nurses and staff at Kamloops Hospice, Dr. J. Waller, the Doctors and nurses in the emergency room and the Doctors and nurses of 6 South at Royal Inland Hospital. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff of the Community Care Home Support Program.
Prayers will be recited at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2797 Sunset Dr., Kamloops, B.C. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Father Nicholas Forde O.M.I will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial from the Church on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
