With great sadness we wish to announce the passing of George Signoretti on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the age of 86 years. George was born in Kamloops on June 19, 1923. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Helen, of 46 years. His daughter Lynette, his son David (Saundra) and his three very much adored grandchildren Sydney, Tyra and Elias.
George is also survived by his three sisters, Dina (Angus) McGregor of Victoria, Iola Wilcox of Terrace and Elda Lane of Kamloops and their respective families. George was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Nick and his brother in law Harold Wilcox.
Near the end of the 2nd World War, George served in Holland in the Artillery Division. After his discharge he began working for the C.N.R. and retired in 1985 after 37 years service. He then went into partnership with Kurt Keir Training and racing quarter horses. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening until failing health prevented further involvement.
George was a very well liked person, by many associates and friends and was especially grateful to Gordon Bremner, friend since childhood and Ralph Humphrey, who both picked him up regularly for coffee visits.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who have cared for George: Dr. Reid, Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Treissman, Dr. Tung (Vancouver) and Dr. Michaud and Dr. Chevalier.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2T1 would be welcomed.
A Reception will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel Tea Room, 513 Seymour Street.
