FANNY LEONE BRADFORD
(CLEAVELEY)
DECEMBER 18, 1931 – JUNE 20, 2010
In loving memory of Fanny Leone Bradford of Barriere who passed away at the age of 78. Fanny was born at Little Fort, BC and is the last surviving child of pioneering family Charles and Pearl Cleaveley.
Fanny is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Jim; parents Charles & Pearl (nee Bose); brothers William (Bill) and Bert; sisters Dorothy, Tiny, Irene, Elva and infant sister Clara.
She is survived by daughters Kitty, Bernice (Harry) and Nadine (Dan); sons Grant and Darrell (Brenda) and 6 grandchildren; foster-children Linda, Wayne (Fran) and Darleen (Grant) and 11 grandchildren.
Fanny was raised in the North Thompson Valley at Round Top, BC. She and her sister Irene owned and operated the Yellowhead Café in downtown Barriere. At this time she met and married her life partner Jim; they went on to raise their children and later operate W.J. & Sons Trucking.
Fanny involved herself in the well-being of her community by volunteering countless hours to Barriere Minor Ball, 4-H, Guides and Scouts. She drove Ambulance and was a founding member of Barriere Search & Rescue. The community honoured her in 1990 as Citizen of the Year.
Fanny always enjoyed a winning hand in crib and had a life-long love of all animals. She was a mom to many … she will be missed by all.
Family & friends are invited to a celebration of Fanny’s life on Saturday, June 26th, 2010, 2-5 pm at the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall in Barriere.
