David Reginald Bryce
June 10, 1935 – June 8, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Reginald Bryce, on June 8th, 2010, at his home in Kamloops, just 2 days shy of his 75th birthday. In recent months he had bravely faced increasing challenges with deteriorating health circumstances. Survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, children: Laura (Paul) and Mike (Linda), and step-children: Tim (Susan) Weiss, Leslie (Raymond) Meidl, and Cindy (Jeff) Harvey, brothers Larry (Janice) and Don, brothers-in-law Robert and Don Haudenschild, sister in law, Betty McBryan, his Aunt Joan (Ken) Sandborn, as well as nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, along with many lifelong friends and fishing buddies. David was predeceased by his first wife Kathleen, parents Laura Lees and David Bryce Sr., and brother Lloyd.
David was accepted into the RCMP in 1953, and provided over thirty-five years of recognized service to the force, retiring in 1989 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. His assignments took him to many parts of Canada, and he settled in Kamloops, B.C., in 1979 for the final phase of his service.
During his years in Kamloops, he enthusiastically pursued his passion for fly fishing on the many lakes in the region. He took on integral roles with the Kamloops Flyfisher’s club, where he made many lifelong friends who shared his love of the outdoors. His favorite place was clearly the family cabin at Sheridan Lake, B.C., where he spent much time with his wife Dorothy and the SLOB’s (Sheridan Lake Old Boys).
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Royal Inland Hospital for the care they provided Dave during his intermittent hospital stays over his final months. Special thanks to Dr. Steyn for his kindness over the last two months, and to Dr. Mabee for his years of attention and support. Thanks are also warranted to the BC Ambulance service, and the Kamloops Fire Department, for their assistance at the residence in recent months.
David will be sadly missed, and very fondly remembered by many.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Pastor Reuben Pauls officiating.
Dear Mike & Laura and the extended Bryce Family,
Please accept our sincere sympathies for the loss of Mr. Bryce. We are thinking about all of you at this time. Although I have not seen Dave in recent years I know he was a great Dad, Uncle and Grandfather and the fishing lakes around Kamloops will never be the same without his fly line beating them to a froth.
Sincerely,
Jeff Putnam and Family (Kamloops)
Our sincere condolences on the passing of you beloved husband and father. I had many great years working in Kamloops with Dave and we know that he will be sadly missed by everyone whose life he touched. May you know that you were his greatest loves.

Dear Mike and Laura,
Our sincere condolences. Mr. Bryce (Dave) was a very influential part of my upbringing in particular and even though the years may have passed that we did not see each other, he was always in memory. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Maurice, Maya, Roma and Lucca …..and Guido and Maria Campagnaro
Our condolences on the loss of your father. He was a good man. As teenager, I remember him as someone who would let us find our own way in the world but still be there to help if we got into trouble. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Sincerely,
Neal, Rhonda, Jessica, and Lauren Anderson
Dear Laura and Mike:
Please accept our condolences on the recent death of your Dad. Staff Bryce
we will miss you. I remember our teenage years (Gilley Ave.) so many years
ago and later on when I had the pleasure of working with him in Kamloops.

Dorothy and family our most sincere sympathy in the loss of Dave. We have had the pleasure of serving Dave through the years at our shop and have enjoyed his chit chats about his fishing adventures. We will miss him and his easy going nature. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Sincere condolences to all the family on Dave’s passing. My thoughts
and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
Dear Mike, Laura, Dorothy and family
I am sad to hear about your loss. It has been some time since I have seen Dave, but I will never forget the memories I have of him fishing with my father and I, nor will I forget some of the things he taught us about fly fishing the Kamloops’ lakes. We’ve all had great times together and those are the things I will remember most of all. Unfortunately, I cannot attend the memorial service as I am working outside of town, but know that I am thinking of all of you during this difficult time. My deepest condolences.
