Daniel William Wood

Gone Fishing …..

On Monday, November 28th, Dan Wood passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital at the age of 63 years. Dan retained his charming wit and uncomplaining good nature to the end. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Twyla, his son Tyler and his wife Anna, his brother Sandy and Bruce (Susan), and by his sisters Kay (Bob) and Connie (Tely). He was predeceased by his parents Marguerite and Alex Wood, nephew Joshua Wood and sister in law Barbara Wood.
Born on August 2, 1948 in Toronto, Dan came to British Columbia at the age of 16 and worked in the forests of Northern BC as a logger. Dan was very much the adventurer and took on many different jobs that enabled him to see every corner of the country. He worked on halibut boats, did aluminium siding, erected towers, and framed houses. In the 1970’s he found himself in the trade of journeyman Iron Worker, a profession he loved and often referred to as the “last truly free-men in the country.”
Dan’s family was the center of his universe. He shared many adventures with his son Tyler, and being a father was of great importance to him.
Dad had said he lived a charmed life; he had his family, the best job in the world and the river.
There will be a Celebration of life for Dan on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 12:00 (noon) in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. We would appreciate any personal anecdotes of your time with Dan.
In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations to the Western Canada Theatre (Kamloops) or to causes of their own choice.
