mum-for-folder3BUHLER, Cicely Mary

Mary Buhler (nee Roberts) was born at Feltam Farm, Surrey, England on August 26, 1918.  She went to join her husband Ben in heaven on Saturday May 8, 2010.

She was predeceased by Ben on October 28, 1955.

The last of nine children, she is survived by her four children, Andy (Marilyn) Buhler, Diana (Don) Greenwood, Margie Buhler, and Mark (Catherine) Buhler, as well as six grandchildren , one step grandson, two great granddaughters and one great grandson.

Mary came to Canada from England as a War Bride on the last sailing of the Queen Mary in 1946. She traveled across Canada by train to Winnipeg where Ben met her and she met with his family. From there they boarded the train to BC.  They worked at Deep Creek just outside of Kelowna until they purchased a VLA farm in Westwold.  After Ben’s death, Mary stayed in Westwold until 1975, and then moved into Diana’s suite in Rayleigh. In 1989 she purchased her condo in Kamloops. Margie lived with her there until her passing.

Mary would like to thank all the Home Support Caregivers who have been so good to her over the years, especially Yvette and Joan.  Also, many thanks to Shirley for coming to spend every Thursday evening with her.

The Reverend Sandra Sugden will officiate at a Celebration of Mary’s life at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 13, 2010 in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street.

Should friends desire, donations to the Marjorie Snowden Hospice House, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, BC  V2E 2S9 or the Kamloops SPCA, 1211 – 8th Street, Kamloops, BC  V2B 2Y3 in Mary’s memory would be appreciated.
