On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Betty Evans passed away peacefully at the Kamloops Hospice Home at the age of 56 years.
She is survived by her loving son Jason Dumont. Betty was predeceased by her husband Gary Evans, her mother Ruby Crocker and her father Fred Crocker.
Betty was born in 1954 and was raised by her parents Fred and Ruby Crocker. She went to elementary school in Chase and finished High School in Kamloops. After high school she went to work for BC Tel as a phone operator. She later met and married Jeannot Dumont and had their son Jason. They moved to Pinantan Lake and had a happy life until Jeannot passed away 10 years later. Betty remained in Pinantan where she met and married Gary Evans.
Betty had a love for animals and the great outdoors. She was a very loving and generous person, whom everyone admired. With her high energy and adventurous spirit, she was never one to sit still. Whether it was taking her dog Rocky for walks every night; camping or just getting out for a drive, she always kept busy.
Betty will always be remembered by her kindness and generosity. She lost her battle with cancer and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family, especially her son Jason.
No formal service by request. Should friends desire, donations to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S., Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Unit 111, 450 Lansdowne Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 1Y3 in memory of Betty would be appreciated.
Donna and I would like to express our deep sadness at the loss of Betty Evans. She was a beautiful person and a good friend to us. This world will be for the worse without her smile, energy and great spirit for life. All our love Rick and Donna Dwyer.
I was Betty’s neighbour for 4 years in Pinantan. I will remember her beautiful flowers and garden; her kindness towards my dog — who ate copious amounts of cat food off her deck; and her walking Rocky around the block every evening. She was such a kind person.
My condolences to her family,
Kerrilyn
Jason, so sorry to hear about your mom. Betty was so determined to get back to her new home and back to her own place, even though she was so weak. She was a great friend in high school, and I so missed her when she moved to Kamloops for Grade 12. I wish you all the best during this sad time–Betty was very special.
A friend,
Phyllis
