Bertha Agnes Duncan
Bertha Agnes (Gray, Hook) Duncan passed away April 24, 2010 with her husband Don beside her at Pine Grove Care Centre after two years in their care. She will be sadly missed by her very large family, husband Don of 44 years, his three children Dee Dee (Hook), Brenda (Redicopp) and Donnie. Bertha’s eight children Jim (Anne), Connie (Bert Lestander), Garry (Sue), Mae Brown, Aroyce Krogstad, Roger (Dee Dee), Rick (Betty) and Harley (Ruth), 30 grandchildren, 52 great grand children and eight great great grandchildren.
Bertha was one of eight children, is only survived her sister Evelyn (Jim Oliver).
She was predeceased by her sister Helen (1926), granddaughter Patricia (Garry) (1959), her first husband Reg Hook (1959), brother Merv (1967), her dad Jim (1980), sister Jean Barnet (1987), her mother Myrtle (1987), brother Eddie (1993), grandson Terrance (Roger) (1995), granddaughter Bonnie (Jim) (2003), brother Laidlaw (2004) and sister Ruth (Robbie) Davey (2006).
She was born in Carbon, Alberta on August 11, 1917. In 1934 she married Reg Hook, in 1937 they and their first three children moved to BC. She has lived in the Kamloops area since that time. Her life revolved around her family; she was a wonderful hostess and loved to laugh, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her!

A Celebration of Bertha’s life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Canon Jack Phelps officiating.

We are all so lucky to have had Gramma Duncan in our lives. I will forever remember her sweetness, her melodious giggle and her soft hugs! I am sorry my children never got to meet her and I hope I can come close to describing just how wonderful she was when I speak to them about her. I love you Gramma, you will always have a place in my heart.
