Assunta Salituro

salituroOn March 15, 2010 with her family by her side, Assunta salituro of age 87 was called by the Lord Jesus to be with him in Heaven. Today she is joined again with her husband Luigi Salituro who passed away on March 6, 2004.

On the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11, 1923 Assunta was born to parents Giovanni and Carmela Russo in Rende, Cosenza, Italy.

She is survived by her daughter Josephine (Mario) Bruno, her son David (Maria) Salituro, her five grandchildren, Robert (Susan) Bruno, Dario (Manuella) Bruno, Loui (Maria) Salituro, Anthony Salituro,  Ashley Salituro, her four great grandchildren, Mario, Joseph, Genna Bruno and Matteo Salituro, and her sister, Maria Cundari.

She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Saletta Beltrano, Luigi Russo, Adelina DeVita, Lauretta DeVita, Ernesto Russo, and Enrichetta Cundari.

Assunta, Luigi, and their two children immigrated to Canada in 1954. Her language barrier never stopped her from anything. She became part of the work force right away working in a bakery, sewing, and finding odd jobs to make a better life for her children.

Her children and grandchildren brought joy to her life each and every day. She loved spending time in the kitchen, baking and cooking special meals for her family.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish for 56 years. She demonstrated her faith and devotion to God by praying the Rosary Daily. She offered many prayers and intercessions to the saints as she believed so strongly in their miracles.

Prayers will be recited on Thursday March 18, 2010 at 7:00pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Mass of a Christian Burial Friday March 19, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.

Entombment will follow at Evergreen Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Assunta Salituro to KAMLOOPS HOSPICE.  72 Whiteshield Cres South V2E 2S9 (250)-372-1336
