Elizabeth Campbell

September 12, 1909-March 31, 2010

Elizabeth, or Betty as she preferred to be called, was born in Liverpool, England.  She and her family moved to Canada when she was nine years old and settled in Winnipeg.

Betty was quite active in her younger years, and loved to snowshoe, cross-country ski, roller skate, and go to dances.  She met Melville, the love of her life at a dance in Elm Creek, Manitoba and were married on April 4, 1936.

Elizabeth and Mel moved to Kelowna for health reasons in 1973.  Betty was an active member of the Canadian Order of Foresters both in Winnipeg and Kelowna for many years as well as being an Eastern Star.

Betty was at her happiest when she was entertaining the children.  Her eyes would light up when the kids came over or asked Grandma/Great Grams to play one of their games.

Betty loved to dance and sing and listen to music.  If she couldn’t get anyone up to dance at a party Betty would often get up and dance by herself.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, Edith and Robert Kerr, Mel her loving husband of 52 years, sons Garth and Harley, granddaughter Suzie Campbell, and sisters Edith, Gladys, and Dorothy.

Betty is survived by her son Neil, younger brother Reg Kerr (Beatrice), daughters in law Happy Campbell and Audrey Campbell, grand children Colin, Heather, Garth, and Pamela (Dale Collins), and great grand children Carly, Nicole, Jessyca, Brandon, and Cassidy.

The family wishes to thank Susie Ireland, Dr. McLeod, and the entire staff at Gillis House for their exceptional care and compassion.

A private family burial will take place in Kelowna.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gillis House or to the Canadian Cancer Society for melanoma research.
