On February 23, 2010, Wilfred Piggin passed away in Kamloops at the age of 85. Survived by his loving brothers Thomas (Jim) Piggin of Kamloops, and Ronald Piggin of Chilliwack.
Wilfred was predeceased by his parents Alfred C. W. Piggin and Emma Jane Piggin; and brothers Alfred (Jean) Piggin and Leonard Piggin Sr.; and sisters-in-law Jean Piggin and Martha Piggin (Jim).
Although Wilfred was a bachelor he had an extended family of loving nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Wilfred was born on October 26, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived in St. Vital. When WWII broke he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. After the war, in 1946, he re-joined his family in Kamloops. Wilfred worked for Canada Post until his retirement; and enjoyed vacationing In Europe and Mexico; was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast; and enjoyed social gatherings and outings with his brothers, nieces and nephews, family and many friends.
The family wishes to give special thanks to his many friends at Nicola Towers; the staff at Royal Inland Hospital, Dr. Howie, the BC Ambulance Service, RCMP and Coroner; Kamloops Transit System “Handy Dart”; Veterans Affairs, Interior Health; his many friends at Canada Post; and the many people merchants that befriended Wilfred during his daily walks in downtown Kamloops.

Cremation. A Memorial Celebration of Wilfred’s life will be held in the Schoening Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Krushel officiating.
On February 25th, 2010, Mrs. Ruby Mavis Larson of Kamloops, passed away at the age of 69 years.
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister.
Predeceased by her husband Arthur, parents Havlock and Alice McFadyen, daughter Oline and brother Ivan. Ruby will be dearly missed by her daughters Wendy (Blaine) Frisk and Cissy (Randy) Gullickson; grandchildren Wes, Dustin(Jody), Darren, Aleisha(Kyle), Clayton, Meagan, Courtney, Kristin, and Jarrod, and great grandsons Kale and Keaton. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters Wanda (Frank) McNally, Wilda (Neil)Banks, and Anne (Frank) Manley, brother Dennis (Yvonne) McFadyen, numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
She has resided in the Highland Valley, Logan Lake and Kamloops area since 1966.
Mom’s happiest memories were when her family was together for any event we could find to celebrate. We are all so grateful for those precious memories

Marie Antoinette (Toni) Oats, born September 18, 1914 passed away on March 1, 2010, at the age of 95. Toni is lovingly remembered by her four children, Maryteen (Bill) Dodge, Muriel (Mike) McGoran, Bernar (Pat) Johnston and Don (Leslee) Johnston; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; 2 great-greatgrandchildren; her brother Roland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Julian Thomas Oats, her parents, Rosanna and Paul Major, one brother, John, and one sister, Rose Eva. Toni was born in Athabasca, Alberta. She lived in Edmonton and Salmo. Toni and Tom moved to Merritt in 1961 where she turned a dirt pile into a beautifully terraced yard, fl ourishing with roses, flowers and vegetables that she tended for over forty years. Friends and neighbors could always count on a good
cup of tea and yummy baking when they dropped by. Toni was well known to be able to lay out the most delicious meal at a moments notice and for the beautiful baby outfi ts she knitted for the hospital and her family.
Toni volunteered many hours in the community of Merritt. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Eastern Star, Nicola Valley Hospital Auxiliary and The Lions Club. She was always there to lend a hand, whether it is to bake apple pies or to cater a function. She was a tireless worker and an inspiration to us all. Just after her 94th birthday she moved from
the family home into Nicola Meadows. There, she was well taken care of by their kind and considerate staff. The family would like to thank all Toni’s friends, the ladies from the Catholic Church, the staff of Nicola Meadows, the staff at N.V.H., Dr. van der Mere, and also the staff at Overlander Residential Care for their caring attention to Toni.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, 2326 Jackson Avenue.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Pat McEachen, on Monday, February 22, with her family by her side.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Carl and her parents.
Pat will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Linda, Kathy (Greg), Barbie (Mark), Laurie (Steve); her sons David and Dennis (Carolyn). Gramma will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Sheila, Teria, Nathan, Stacey, Micale, Mika, and Zoe; her step-grandchildren, Kelly and Bobbi; and her great-grandchildren, Natasha, Azriel, Sydney and Zyia.
Mom has enjoyed the last 60 years in Kamloops. She has affected many lives through sports, from coaching all her children, to many others, young and old. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest from coaching and playing hard-ball, soft-ball, playing soccer, bowling, curling, lawn bowling, golfing, cross-country skiing and horse-shoes. Mom was an avid horse-woman for many years, which carried through to her children and grandchildren.
Mom participated in the B.C. Senior Games from 1988 -2002, bringing home many medals.
Mom had many hobbies from stained-glass, pottery, knitting, building and decorating bird houses. She loved her rose garden and was an excellent gardener. She had a passion for fishing with family and friends, and always caught the biggest and the most.
Mom had many animals in her life, from Moss … Mr. Tubbs. She recently lost her best friend, Tessie. Mom was looking forward to her new puppy, Molly but Zoe will look after her for Gramma.
Forever loved and missed by all.
